The COALVILLE  LIGHT  ORCHESTRA is an amateur orchestra which meets weekly

to play light classical music in a relaxed environment just for the pleasure of it

Unlike many amateur orchestras,  it does not give public performances so its members
can enjoy playing without the spotlights, an audience and intensive rehearsal schedules

Unlike most orchestras we have no Annual subscription fee or other hidden charges
we
simply collect £2 on each night you do attend to go toward the hire of the room, music & piano

LATEST NEWS

Coalville Light Orchestra moved to the church during the summer school holidays.
A good number still attended with piano having additional work filling in for missing players!

From September 7th 2010 until the end of term we are back at the school.

Members of the Chamber Music Group have also been meeting regularly.
Their purpose is to practise and improve their standard in small ensemble
.

Beethoven and Weber trios were the initial works tried together with cello sonatas
by Beethoven, Brahms and Grieg,  and (in Sheffield) the Mozart Piano Quartet K478.

Franck Bridge's 1917 cello sonata was the biggest challenge with Schumann op 73 the latest piece.
Haydn Trios feature in the Autumn of 2010 programme.

Just one of the things we play

The old piano - new one looks much better! Who was it that didn't tune to my A ?

I'm not very old but I can make the most noise :-)I get all those difficult solo parts!Wasn't me responsible for that earthquake, honest!

I get the parts that nobody else wants

- dum de dum de dum de dum

I'm sure Ted's given me the oboe part

Fiddles galore!

Well someone's got to keep 'em in time
